Job Summary:
We are seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to fill a part-time position in Muskoka for night shift at an Addiction treatment center. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the healthcare sector and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality patient care, adhering to the Practice Standards set by the Ontario College of Nurses.
- Administer medications within the full scope of practice, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective care plans.
- Participate in ongoing staff training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment, promoting teamwork and open communication.
Requirements:
- Graduate from an approved School of Nursing (Registered Practical Nursing Program) or Registered Nursing Program, with a current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
- Theoretical and applied knowledge of the Practice Standards set out by the Ontario College of Nurses.
- Relevant experience working within the full scope of practice, including medication administration, within the last two years.
- Completion of RPN standardization (all modules) required.
- Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps training certificate is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Meditech Client Service OE, and GRASP software.
- Knowledgeable about community support services, home and community care, rehabilitative services, adult day programs, and other social services.
- Effective team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to work cooperatively with staff, patients, physicians, volunteers, and the public.
- Skilled in using patient care equipment.
- Familiar with Ontario Hospital Association/Medical Association Communicable Disease Surveillance Protocols.
- Able to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Compliant with HSNs privacy policy and committed to the safety of co-workers and patients.
- Works well independently and under pressure.
- Relates well to staff, residents, and families with patience, tolerance, and confidentiality.
- Maintains a positive work and attendance record.
- Uses tact and discretion with healthcare providers and employees.
- Committed to ongoing professional development and handles confidential issues professionally.
- Capable of meeting the physical and sensory demands of the job.
- Empathetic and understanding of the needs of the elderly and disabled.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (within 6 months of employment start date) and TB testing required.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
