Adjunct Faculty in Psychiatric Nursing

The Faculty of Health Sciences is seeking applications for contract faculty to deliver instruction in clinical practice courses within mental health environments, as well as theoretical, communication, and psychomotor skills laboratory courses for all levels of the Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing Program.
Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:
- Guide students through their learning journey, facilitating understanding and assessing student performance in college-level courses.
- Design, organize, and oversee educational activities and resources, offering academic support to students while ensuring high-quality, learner-focused instruction.
- Engage in collaborative efforts with colleagues to enhance the educational experience.
To excel in this position, you will need:
- Current registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) with BCCNM.
- A Master's degree in Psychiatric Nursing, Nursing, Education, or a related discipline for regular positions, or active enrollment in a Master's program (PhD preferred).
- Experience in teaching nursing practice (clinical), classroom/seminar, and/or laboratory settings within a nursing program or equivalent (preferred).
- Recent clinical and/or instructional experience in medical-surgical nursing.
- Background in curriculum development and assessment (an asset).
- Strong interpersonal skills with a solid grasp of therapeutic communication.
- Awareness of cultural safety and humility within the educational and psychiatric nursing context.
- A robust work ethic and the capacity for self-direction to achieve objectives.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to team initiatives.
- Evidence of scholarly activities (e.g., research, publications, conference presentations, professional committee participation, community engagement).
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional growth (e.g., attending conferences, coursework, in-services).
- Initiative and creativity in professional practice.
