Position Overview

Under the general oversight of the Charge Medical Technologist or designated personnel, the Computed Tomography Technologist executes assigned diagnostic responsibilities in alignment with their training and expertise. The incumbent delivers direct patient care and provides the necessary technical, administrative, and operational support as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

The role involves maintaining a secure environment in accordance with professional standards and provincial regulations, ensuring adherence to quality assurance protocols, and upholding the standards established by accreditation bodies. All functions are performed in line with the mission and values of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, current policies, and applicable legislation.

Experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of two (2) years' experience as a Radiography Technologist in a sizable Radiography/Computed Tomography department.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Radiography program with certification from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  • Completion or current enrollment in courses related to Cross Sectional Anatomy and/or Computed Tomography, progressing towards the CAMRT Computed Tomography Imaging Certificate (CTIC).
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Imaging Technology Program, eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) within three months of hire.
  • Must maintain CPR certification.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions with precision and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and interpersonal skills, capable of fostering positive relationships within a multidisciplinary team and with external stakeholders.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of all information.
  • Fluency in both French and English may be required.
  • Capability to perform the duties as outlined.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and transport patients.
  • Capacity to maneuver heavy portable equipment.
  • Flexibility to stoop and bend as necessary.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Participation in standby and callback duties may be necessary.
  • Rotation through various workstations as needed.
  • Exposure to potential hazards inherent in the department.
