Underwriting Manager Opportunity

At Equitable Life of Canada, we are seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead our team of Individual Underwriters. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for ensuring strong technical risk assessment of individual life and critical illness insurance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement underwriting workflow and workload balancing strategies to meet individual and team goals.
  • Manage and support cross-functional projects that contribute to department, division, and corporate goals.
  • Build relationships with key brokerage firms and internal distribution partners to promote business growth.
  • Partner with leaders in underwriting and Individual Insurance to meet strategic goals.
  • Focus on clear and timely communication with underwriting team, leadership, and both internal and external partners.
Requirements:
  • College or University degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of Individual Insurance knowledge and demonstrated underwriting experience.
  • Knowledge of individual products and underwriting policies, procedures, workflow, and admin systems.
  • Proven skills in leadership and employee development.
  • Ability to negotiate and thrive in a cross-functional environment.
