The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care at Southlake Regional Health Centre. As a key member of the healthcare team, the RPN will work collaboratively to provide direct patient care, utilizing the three-factor framework outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario. This framework emphasizes the importance of the client, nurse, and environment in decision-making and care provision.
Responsibilities- Provides patient and family-focused care within the RPN scope of practice, adhering to established hospital policies and procedures.
- Ensures practice is consistent with entry-to-practice competencies, standards of practice, guidelines, and legislation.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Practices collaboratively with Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide care for patients/clients with complex health issues.
- Contributes to the assessment and documentation of each patient's health status on an ongoing basis.
- Assists in the development and implementation of the Plan of Care and evaluates its effectiveness.
- Acts as a role model and champion to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities.
- RPN diploma from a recognized school of nursing.
- RPN Certificate of Registration, in good standing, from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current BLS certification required.
- CC1 or equivalent to be successfully completed within three (3) months of hire.
- Safe Management Group Violence Prevention Training required or to be successfully completed within three (3) months of hire.
