Position Overview
The successful candidate will collaborate with the team to ensure the integrity of tailings facilities by executing key responsibilities in tailings and pond management, emphasizing operational safety, monitoring, ongoing construction, and coordination with various internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain comprehensive records of design, construction, operations, maintenance, monitoring, and surveillance.
  2. Plan for tailings deposition effectively.
  3. Ensure compliance with the site-wide water management strategy.
  4. Oversee the execution of design intentions during construction and operational phases.
  5. Support risk assessments of structural integrity.
Additional Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain accurate construction and performance records, ensuring easy access to up-to-date information.
  2. Collaborate with engineering, environmental, and processing teams to formulate and implement short- and long-term plans and schedules.
  3. Provide oversight for civil construction and project management.
  4. Review design reports, drawings, and technical specifications.
  5. Interpret and validate monitoring data.
  6. Analyze surveillance data, report on routine inspections, and endorse recommendations for structural improvements.
  7. Work with the Engineer of Record to evaluate data and report findings.
  8. Assist in risk assessments and propose measures to address identified risks.
  9. Monitor adherence to the tailings deposition strategy.
  10. Implement and periodically review the site-wide water management strategy.
  11. Oversee the design, construction, and management of tailings and water-retaining facilities.
  12. Provide financial input to meet operational and capital expenditure requirements.
Qualifications:
Education:
  1. Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  2. Master's degree with a focus on geotechnical engineering is preferred.
  3. Professional Engineer designation is required.
Experience:
  1. At least 10 years of experience in geotechnical and tailings management, including design, construction, operations, and closure of tailings and water storage facilities.
  2. Experience in geotechnical engineering related to tailings facilities, water storage, and slope management.
  3. Proven ability to influence senior leadership.
  4. Experience in managing teams of employees and contractors.
Skills:
  1. Familiarity with various mineral, tailings, and water processing technologies.
  2. Expertise in governance related to tailings storage facilities.
  3. Ability to lead teams focused on dam safety and apply critical thinking.
