Role Overview:
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Manitoba team to uphold the integrity of the tailings facility. This includes executing key responsibilities related to tailings and pond management, emphasizing process safety, continuous monitoring, construction oversight, and collaboration with the Engineer of Record and other internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain comprehensive records of design, construction, operations, maintenance, monitoring, and surveillance.
  2. Plan tailings deposition effectively.
  3. Ensure compliance with the site-wide water management strategy.
  4. Oversee the execution of design intentions during construction and operational phases.
  5. Support risk assessments for structural integrity.
Additional Duties:
  1. Ensure accurate control and accessibility of construction and performance records.
  2. Collaborate with engineering, environmental, and processing teams to formulate and implement construction and maintenance plans.
  3. Provide oversight for civil construction monitoring and project management.
  4. Review and validate design reports, drawings, and technical specifications.
  5. Interpret and verify monitoring data for accuracy.
  6. Work alongside the Engineer of Record to analyze data and present findings.
  7. Monitor adherence to the tailings deposition plan.
  8. Implement and periodically review the site-wide water management strategy.
  9. Oversee the design, construction, and management of tailings and water-retaining facilities.
  10. Contribute to budget planning to address operational, research, and capital expenditure needs.
Candidate Profile:
Education:
  1. Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  2. Master's degree with a focus on geotechnical engineering is preferred.
  3. Professional Engineer designation is required.
Experience:
  1. At least 10 years of experience in geotechnical and tailings management, including design, construction, operations, and closure of related facilities.
  2. Expertise in geotechnical engineering for tailings and water storage facilities, including dam analysis and instrumentation technologies.
  3. Proven experience in influencing senior leadership.
  4. Experience in managing teams of employees and contractors.
Skills:
  1. Familiarity with various mineral, tailings, and water processing technologies.
  2. Deep understanding of tailings storage facility governance and relevant guidelines.
  3. Ability to lead teams focused on dam safety and apply critical thinking.
