We are seeking a Marketing Research and Intelligence (MRI) Lead to enhance our advertising operations in a multi-market capacity, specifically focusing on Canada and France.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute the research and measurement framework for the Canadian market while integrating regional strategies for France.
  • Strengthen partnerships with top advertisers through insights and measurement, including customized testing strategies and consultation.
  • Foster relationships with Canadian advertisers seeking evidence and guidance to demonstrate Spotify's effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with sales teams and cross-functional partners to craft our market entry narrative.
  • Oversee all aspects of survey research, including design, project management, data integrity, fieldwork supervision, analysis, storytelling, report generation, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide essential expertise in the media industry by staying updated on trends, research methodologies, and third-party partnerships, shaping Spotify's measurement strategy.
  • Educate both internal and external stakeholders on media performance trends and standard practices to inform business decisions.
  • Offer informal leadership and mentorship to the broader team, sharing insights and expertise related to ongoing projects.
  • Contribute to Spotify's perspective on new and existing measurement solutions, educating Sales and Marketing teams accordingly.
  • Maintain global databases of advertising effectiveness and establish benchmarks across critical metrics.
  • Lead multiple external client engagements, presenting thought leadership and measurement insights.
  • Analyze large and diverse datasets to extract insights, formulate hypotheses, and address sales, marketing, and business development inquiries.
  • Utilize first-party data and custom research to deepen the understanding of our audience beyond syndicated research.
  • Collaborate with leadership on Sales and Marketing initiatives.
  • Adapt to the dynamic nature of our team and product, embracing new challenges as they arise.

Candidate Profile:

  • Fluency in both French and English is advantageous.
  • 8+ years of experience in digital advertising research, with a solid understanding of the role of research and measurement in driving advertising revenue.
  • In-depth knowledge of the media and advertising sectors, with experience in an Ad Sales environment.
  • Proven track record of collaborating with advertisers and shaping measurement strategies.
  • Exceptional presentation skills, capable of leading and contributing significantly to client meetings.
  • Extensive experience in various advertising measurement methodologies using both first-party and third-party research solutions.
  • Strong background in quantitative advertising research, with skills in designing and analyzing complex studies.
  • Expertise in measurement areas including Reach, Resonance, and Reaction.
  • Proficient in data analysis and storytelling, able to convey the underlying reasons behind research findings.
  • Familiarity with SQL or similar tools is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A proactive self-starter who thrives in ambiguous project environments.
  • A collaborative team player who values building positive relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Leadership experience with a history of mentoring researchers is a plus.

Work Environment:

  • This role requires some in-person meetings while allowing flexibility for remote work. Regular attendance at the Toronto office is expected.
