Nutritional Services Assistant

Overview:

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Nutritional Services Assistant to support our Food Services team. This role is crucial in maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment while assisting in the preparation and delivery of meals tailored to our patients' dietary requirements.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to the Manager of Patient Food Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in meal preparation, including tray assembly and portioning of food items.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and kitchen equipment.
  • Support dishwashing and cleaning duties in the kitchen.
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling processes.
  • Handle cleaning chemicals safely and effectively.
  • Maintain adequate stock of clean utensils and kitchenware.
  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Ontario Secondary School diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in English, with a focus on reading and writing skills.
  • Previous experience in hospital food service is preferred, with knowledge of safe food handling practices.
  • Valid Food Handlers Certificate is required.
  • Familiarity with therapeutic diets and nutritional supplements is an asset.
  • Ability to lift and move weights of 25 lbs or more regularly.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to quality service.
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable attendance and a disciplined work history are essential.
