About the Organization: The Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation is dedicated to encouraging the communities of South Georgian Bay to contribute to the enhancement of facilities, equipment, programs, and services for the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital. With a significant portion of the hospital's equipment and technology funded through community generosity, the Foundation is poised to undertake a monumental fundraising campaign aimed at securing $100 million for a new, state-of-the-art hospital.

We are a small, dynamic team of eight that prioritizes integrity, innovation, accountability, and gratitude. As we embark on this ambitious campaign, we seek a candidate who values visionary thinking, relationship cultivation, and possesses a flair for creativity.

Position Overview:

The Collingwood Hospital Foundation is on the lookout for a full-time Development Assistant. In this capacity, you will assist the Director of Operations & Communications and the Annual Giving Coordinator with daily communications tasks, including managing e-newsletters, updating the website, overseeing social media platforms, and developing content. Additionally, you will provide support for campaign communications alongside the Director of Philanthropy and the President & CEO.

Ideal Candidate:

We are searching for an individual who is driven, passionate about healthcare, and capable of amplifying our message and sharing our narrative within the community.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Development Assistant, your role will involve establishing and nurturing our community of supporters while keeping our donors informed about their contributions by:

  • Effectively communicating our impact and expressing gratitude to engage our donor audience.
  • Creating and sharing 3-4 posts weekly across our social media channels, including gathering relevant content, imagery, and video.
  • Assisting the Annual Giving Coordinator and Director of Operations & Communications with the monthly e-newsletter.
  • Serving as the primary contact for inquiries related to community fundraising events.
  • Collaborating with volunteer fundraisers to ensure their events are well-organized and financially successful.
  • Attending and providing support at events as directed.
  • Aiding in the preparation of donor proposals.
  • Assisting with special projects as assigned by the President & CEO.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum secondary school diploma.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an office environment.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a customer service role.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • A positive, outgoing, and welcoming demeanor.
  • Strong organizational skills with effective time management.
  • An empathetic team player who is deeply aligned with the mission and vision of the CGMHF.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Background in marketing or communications.
  • Experience in a non-profit organization is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Ability to build relationships across the organization, particularly with healthcare staff and third-party fundraisers.
  • Skill in simplifying complex topics, such as hospital equipment or technology, into easily digestible content for our donors.
  • A positive and persuasive communication style.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with tools such as Wordpress, Meta, Asana, and Blackbaud.
  • Graphic design skills and experience with InDesign or Canva.
  • A genuine interest in or passion for healthcare.

Work Environment:

  • The Development Assistant will primarily work in the office but will be required to attend off-site events.
  • Standard working hours will be weekdays, with occasional after-hours and weekend work to support community fundraisers.
  • Total hours worked shall not exceed forty-eight (48) in any one week.
  • Work hours will be coordinated with the Director of Operations & Communications.

Compensation: $45,600 to $49,400 per annum

Health & Safety Compliance:

Adherence to Occupational Health & Safety Policy is required, including compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations.
