In this position, you will report directly to the Controller and collaborate with a team of eight (8) accounting professionals in a dynamic environment that manages multiple business entities. This role is ideal for individuals who excel in teamwork and thrive in high-volume task settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete cycle of company and broker payables, including reconciliation, discrepancy resolution, payments, scanning, and filing.
- Prepare electronic funds transfers (EFT) and wire payments.
- Handle transactions in both CAD and USD currencies.
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of deposit insurance premiums and quarterly premiums.
- Communicate professionally and promptly with internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Assist with receipt entries, deposit preparations, scanning, and filing tasks.
- Support the entry of online credit card information and other receipts.
- Apply debits and credits, and follow up on unapplied receipts prior to generating statements.
- Reconcile client accounts as necessary.
- Oversee the reconciliation of direct bill company payables.
- Review direct bill commission deposits to the appropriate brokerage.
- Provide assistance in other areas as needed.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Familiarity with Trust accounting practices.
- Ability to work independently while being part of a team.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and skilled in prioritizing tasks.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities to meet deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new software.
- Innovative problem-solver with a proactive approach to challenges.
- Committed to continuous improvement and efficiency while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying accounting concepts to colleagues and external parties.
- Positive attitude and willingness to assist in various areas beyond accounting, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Progress towards a professional accounting designation is considered an asset.
