In this position, you will report directly to the Controller and collaborate with a team of eight (8) accounting professionals in a dynamic environment that manages multiple business entities. This role is ideal for individuals who excel in teamwork and thrive in high-volume task settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete cycle of company and broker payables, including reconciliation, discrepancy resolution, payments, scanning, and filing.
  • Prepare electronic funds transfers (EFT) and wire payments.
  • Handle transactions in both CAD and USD currencies.
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of deposit insurance premiums and quarterly premiums.
  • Communicate professionally and promptly with internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Assist with receipt entries, deposit preparations, scanning, and filing tasks.
  • Support the entry of online credit card information and other receipts.
  • Apply debits and credits, and follow up on unapplied receipts prior to generating statements.
  • Reconcile client accounts as necessary.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of direct bill company payables.
  • Review direct bill commission deposits to the appropriate brokerage.
  • Provide assistance in other areas as needed.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Familiarity with Trust accounting practices.
  • Ability to work independently while being part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and skilled in prioritizing tasks.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to meet deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new software.
  • Innovative problem-solver with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and efficiency while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying accounting concepts to colleagues and external parties.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to assist in various areas beyond accounting, fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Progress towards a professional accounting designation is considered an asset.
