We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team at SSHRC as a Program Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive management of merit-review processes for competitions. You will analyze and advise on merit review, program administration, policy questions, planning, and accountability to support decision-making on merit review processes, corporate priorities, and programs' objectives. You will represent the views and policies of the division and of the granting agency in interactions with a wide audience, including applicants, selection committees, administrators, as well as other stakeholders and their associations.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide analysis and advice on merit review, program administration, policy questions, planning, and accountability
* Represent the views and policies of the division and of the granting agency in interactions with a wide audience
* Manage merit-review processes for competitions
* Analyze and advise on program administration, policy questions, planning, and accountability

Requirements

* An undergraduate degree from a recognized university
* A graduate degree is an asset
* Foreign Credential Validation against Canadian Standards
* Experience in research in a university, college, government, or not-for-profit organization or similar setting
* Experience in research and data analysis
* Experience in providing recommendations to management
* Experience in the administration of research and/or award funding programs is an asset
* Experience in the analysis of policies and programs is an asset
* Experience in supervising staff is an asset

Competencies

* Plan, manage, and control a high volume of diverse activities under tight deadlines
* Research and analyze data, reports, and other documentation to formulate recommendations
* Develop and maintain good working relationships internally, with the research community, and other stakeholders
* Develop solutions to complex issues/problems
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Train, coach, and mentor is an asset

Working Conditions

* Security Clearance: Reliability
* The incumbent may be required to travel and may occasionally be required to work overtime
