About the Role
The Laboratory Operations Manager will oversee the analytical operations of the organic laboratory, ensuring the day-to-day operations run smoothly and efficiently. This role will be responsible for supervising staff, assigning workloads, and managing productivity targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage a team of laboratory staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Assign workloads and tasks to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded.
- Oversee staff scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage and managing absenteeism and vacation time.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and recommend disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Manage human resources, including recruiting, performance management, and employee relations.
- Coordinate training and development programs for laboratory staff.
- Prepare and maintain production reports and statistics.
- Ensure compliance with quality management system requirements and accreditation standards.
- Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of any findings.
- Communicate with other departments to address production issues and resolve client service concerns.
About You:
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in supervising laboratory staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills.
- Good organizational skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in operating and maintaining analytical chemistry instrumentation.
- Experience working with ISO/IEC 17025 or similar international standardization systems.
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading a team in a laboratory setting.
Physical Demands:
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to stand for a full shift.
- Able to sit at a desk and perform general office work.
- Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks.
