Job Summary
The Geotechnical Drilling Operations Manager is a key leadership role that oversees the successful operation and completion of drilling programs. Reporting to the Project Manager, this position requires strong technical knowledge, effective communication skills, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage drill crews to ensure efficient and safe drilling operations.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and employees on site.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce HSE requirements.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure project requirements and deadlines are met.
- Utilize technical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair drill rigs and equipment.
- Coordinate and deliver employee training and development programs.
- Strategically mentor and identify high-potential employees.
- Complete incident reports and investigations.
- Prepare daily reports of drilling activities.
- Accommodate and facilitate change as required by clients or company.
- Conduct routine drill audits and inspections.
- Monitor drilling operations and ensure compliance with HSE requirements.
- Operate and troubleshoot drill and ancillary equipment.
- Supervise drill assistants and ensure compliance with HSE requirements.
Requirements
- 5-10 years of experience in geotechnical or environmental drilling.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and computer technology.
- ITA Certification is an asset.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
