Network Systems Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Analyst to join our team at the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. As a key member of our Information Technology department, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining our network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and accessibility.
Key Responsibilities- Support and maintain PCs, servers, and network equipment, including wireless, firewall, and fiber systems.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Monitor network traffic and performance, identifying and resolving issues to ensure optimal network operation.
- Provide first-line and second-line support for users and IT staff, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
- Administer and manage network security, including firewall and content filtering appliances.
- Design and implement remote access networks using site-to-site and SSL VPN.
- Configure and install building environmental network devices for monitoring in remote sites.
- Administer and troubleshoot load balancer devices.
- Direct daily activities of technology contractors as needed.
- Monitor and maintain wireless systems throughout the municipality's buildings.
- Provide technical support to end-users, investigating and resolving issues using our ITSD ticketing system.
- Participate in network-oriented projects, including the addition of new facilities, technology, and infrastructure.
- Monitor internet and network bandwidth utilization on a regular basis.
- Monitor, log, and report malicious actions caught through the firewall.
- Research and maintain documentation, providing recommendations for hardware and software upgrades or replacements within budget.
- Provide technical advice and information concerning the condition of the network infrastructure.
- Monitor and control network security using network tools and services.
- Review and ensure network optimization by reviewing configuration and designs for improvements to performance and speeds.
- Solid working knowledge of Cisco switches, firewalls, and other networking equipment.
- Proven ability to read and understand complex technical manuals.
- High degree of precision and accuracy in documentation and investigative procedures.
- Ability to respond to network malfunctions by diagnosing the problem and initiating appropriate remedial procedures and repairs.
- Ability to work independently and effectively schedule work to meet service demands and minimize disruption to users.
- Maintains professionalism and ability to work well under pressure.
- Diploma in computer science or a related field with an emphasis on networks and information security.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is required.
- CCNP certification is preferred, and CISSP/ CISA/ CISM/ CCSP are also considered assets.
- Three (3) years of direct experience with Cisco networking solutions.
- Ability to provide a Criminal Record Check.
- A Class Five (5) Operator's License is required.
- Pre-employment testing may be required as part of the interview process.
- Travel to rural areas within the municipality on occasion, which may include overnight stays.
