Role Summary:

The In-Patient Medicine & ICU Program encompasses over 350 budgeted beds across multiple facilities, staffed by inter-professional teams dedicated to the care of critically ill and complex medicine patients. We prioritize high-quality, patient-centered care in an innovative environment that addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of our patients.

The ideal candidate will report to a Clinical Manager and will be committed to delivering compassionate, excellent care.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master's Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Certificate for Independent Practice with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Rostered for tracheal suctioning and administering inhalation substances (or evidence of becoming rostered within six months of hire)
  • Proven ability to work in an inter-professional team environment
  • Experience collaborating effectively with Occupational Therapy Assistants/Physiotherapy Assistants
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (or evidence of completion within three months of hire)
  • Strong attendance record
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written), including problem-solving and negotiation abilities
  • Effective team player

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in in-patient medicine and/or intensive care units
  • Experience in educating patients and families in both individual and group settings
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Proficiency in a second language is an asset

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing physiotherapy coverage across assigned sites, including weekends and statutory holidays
  • Planning and directing physiotherapy services, encompassing assessment, treatment, and evaluation
  • Collaborating with the inter-professional team to facilitate seamless patient care transitions
  • Adhering to legislation, hospital policies, and professional standards in practice
  • Contributing to the development of program and unit-level objectives, policies, and quality assurance initiatives
  • Completing workload measurement reporting in a timely manner
