About the Role

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Wind Technician to join our team in Pincher Creek, Alberta. As a Wind Technician, you will be responsible for the site operations of twenty SGRE platform type, providing excellent service to our customers, and working on complex systems in challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-defined technical tasks, such as basic commissioning of products and systems, integration of components to a system, basic engineering, and maintenance jobs.
  • Support customers remotely and onsite, and provide 2nd and 3rd level user support in case of arising issues.
  • Coordinate and accomplish defined service operations and/or resolve product issues for customers' equipment.
  • Support in generating sales leads for pre-defined service offers and contribute to planning activities.
  • Adhere to defined processes and applicable regulations.
  • Provide excellent service to our customers, analyze, and react to people in stressful hazardous situations.
  • Participate in the development of new improved field procedures and best practices.

Requirements

  • Turbine experience, on SGRE Geared Platform is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in electrical systems, including PLC programming and converters.
  • College Diploma or equivalent competency in a field related to the work of a wind farm technician electrical / mechanical systems.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong initiative and motivation to learn new technology and translate learning into personal success.
  • Excellent customer service skills and communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong ability to organize and plan daily/weekly work with a high level of quality orientation, ability to analyze and resolve problems independently with a high level of results orientation.
  • Good computer skills, is competent in the use of Microsoft platforms like Outlook and Excel.
  • Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the Canada. Qualified applicants will not require employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the Canada.
  • Must be presently reside in Canada. Also, travel to customer sites within and outside Canada is a requirement of the job. Must be eligible to hold a valid Passport and Driver's License.
  • Demonstrate proficiency MS Office computer tools.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted on a regular basis.
  • Sit, stand, bend & kneel for 8 or more hours/day.
  • Available for overtime for up to 12 -hour days and on off days.
