Position: Marketing and Communication Manager

Role Overview:

The Marketing and Communication Manager is tasked with leading the marketing department, focusing on the development and execution of communication strategies, content generation, community outreach, digital marketing initiatives, brand stewardship, event management, crisis communication, and team leadership. This position demands a strategic mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, alongside strong leadership capabilities and a comprehensive grasp of contemporary marketing trends and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Communication Strategy Development:
    • Craft and implement detailed communication plans to enhance the organization's public image and messaging regarding conservation and education.
    • Supervise the production of engaging content across various platforms, including the organization's website, social media, newsletters, and press communications.
    • Maintain uniformity in messaging and branding across all communication outlets.
    • Build and sustain robust relationships with local, national, and international media representatives.
    • Serve as the primary media liaison, managing inquiries and preparing press materials.
  2. Content Oversight:
    • Direct the creation of compelling content for diverse platforms, ensuring consistency in messaging.
  3. Community Engagement Initiatives:
    • Design and implement outreach programs to foster community involvement and stakeholder engagement.
    • Coordinate and participate in community events to advocate for the organization's initiatives.
  4. Digital Marketing Management:
    • Oversee SEO and SEM strategies to boost online presence.
    • Formulate and execute social media strategies to connect with audiences and enhance online engagement.
    • Manage the creation and dissemination of valuable content to attract and retain a defined audience.
  5. Brand Strategy Development:
    • Establish and uphold the organization's brand strategy for consistent messaging and positioning.
    • Oversee the production of marketing materials that promote the brand effectively.
  6. Crisis Communication Planning:
    • Develop and implement crisis communication strategies to address potential public relations challenges.
    • Ensure timely and effective communication during emergencies or unforeseen events.
  7. Research and Performance Analysis:
    • Conduct research to assess public perception and communication needs.
    • Evaluate the success of communication strategies and modify plans as necessary to achieve objectives.
    • Analyze visitor profiles to gain insights into demographics and preferences.
  8. Leadership and Team Development:
    • Lead and mentor a team of marketing professionals, providing guidance and support.
    • Identify and facilitate training opportunities for team members to enhance their skills.
    • Engage with local communities to foster positive relationships and promote new initiatives.

Accountability:

The Marketing and Communication Manager holds a management position responsible for upholding the brand integrity of the organization and ensuring a safe and enriching experience for visitors. This role also involves mentoring marketing staff and volunteers while providing support to the Director of Operations.

Qualifications:

A minimum of five years of experience in marketing, with at least three years in a leadership role. A proven history of developing and executing successful marketing strategies is essential. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of digital marketing, SEO, social media, and content marketing, alongside excellent communication and leadership skills. An analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data for informed decision-making is required. Proficiency in marketing tools and software is also necessary.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to cultivate effective working relationships with colleagues, volunteers, and visitors. Personal attributes such as empathy, a strong work ethic, and a collaborative spirit are essential. The ideal candidate will excel in a dynamic environment and be adaptable to various tasks as assigned by management.

Education:

A bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred.

Additional Information:

A valid driver's license is required. Relevant certifications in digital marketing, project management, or specific marketing tools will enhance a candidate's profile.

This is a permanent, full-time position requiring onsite presence.
