Your Opportunity at ARC'TERYX: As the Head of Retail Architecture, you will craft enduring, high-quality, and user-friendly designs for Arc'teryx retail outlets worldwide. Your creations will engage consumers by linking them to our brand and products through exceptional retail experiences. You will develop store layouts for all brand locations, encompassing space planning, storefront aesthetics, signage, fixtures, and finishes. Your leadership will guarantee that project design development and execution are approached with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a relentless pursuit of innovation. This role is based out of our North Vancouver office. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
Meet Your Future Team: The Retail Design team comprises imaginative and innovative professionals. We are dedicated to bringing the Brand to life in physical environments and are continually seeking ways to enhance our retail experience. We collaborate closely with Brand Creative, Visual Merchandising, and Retail Operations teams to design and construct our stores, ensuring a premium retail experience for our customers.

If you were the Head of Retail Architecture now, here are some of the core activities you would be engaged in:

  • Collaborating across functions to create and adapt retail concepts for all direct-to-consumer channels (brand stores, Brand+, Alpha, concept stores, shop-in-shop, etc.)
  • Steering the design and coordination of all interior brand elements in partnership with the Brand team to uphold the overall design and brand vision
  • Leading regular design presentations to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Facilitating cross-functional collaboration sessions specific to each store project
  • Identifying opportunities in our Retail Designs and proactively designing solutions
  • Managing project timelines and communicating with cross-functional partners using Smartsheet
  • Initiating and reviewing architectural site surveys for design and layout feasibility to make recommendations for budget, operational, and brand suitability
  • Preparing project layouts, specifications, millwork, lighting direction, and design details for architectural documentation
  • Overseeing and managing the production of architectural drawings for accuracy, industry quality standards, building codes, and health and safety regulations
  • Coordinating with external architects on drawing deliverables, completion dates, permitting, and construction documents
  • Reviewing standard project-based shop drawings (storefront, fixtures, signage, brand elements) for accuracy, completeness, and coordination with architectural drawings
  • Collaborating closely with the Director of Construction and Project Managers during budgeting, bidding, and building phases
  • Partnering with the Visual Merchandising team to finalize store layouts, assortment strategies, and capacity for each location

Are you our next Head of Retail Architecture?

  • You possess a bachelor's degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field
  • You have over 10 years of experience in global retail design
  • You have experience leading a team of 5 or more individuals
  • You have a proven track record of creating and delivering innovative design concepts and solutions on time and within budget with minimal oversight
  • You are LEED certified and/or have a strong interest in sustainable design practices
  • You possess strong design and presentation skills
  • You have proficient 3D rendering skills
  • You are knowledgeable in material specification, sourcing, and construction methods
  • You are experienced in current building codes and ADA requirements in the US, Canada, and EMEA
  • You have a strong ability to drive work to ensure deadlines are met
  • You are proficient in CAD drafting using AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, SketchUp, Enscape, and Smartsheet
  • You are a strong team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a collaborative environment
  • You are driven to solve problems and eager to learn
  • You possess excellent verbal and visual communication skills
  • You have a remarkable ability to create, understand, and translate three-dimensional concepts into drawings
  • You are proactive in identifying the root causes of issues and developing solutions

$146,000 - $182,000 a year. A reasonable estimate of the pay range is $146,000 - $182,000 CAD at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and/or training.
