Position Overview:

The University of Toronto is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Sessional Instructional Assistant for the course ARC1041HF - Building Science 1. This course serves as an essential foundation within the Master of Architecture program, focusing on the interplay between ecological, cultural, and technological factors in architectural design.

Course Details:

Course Title: Building Science 1
Estimated Enrollment: 85 students
Class Schedule: Mondays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Appointment Size: 100 hours

Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is $80.

Qualifications:

Minimum: A Master's degree in Architecture or a related field is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a strong background in teaching Building Science and its relevance to architectural design. Experience with high-performance light wood frame construction is advantageous.

Preferred: Familiarity with contemporary architectural pedagogy and an understanding of the current trends in the discipline, both practically and theoretically, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Evaluating and advising students in a laboratory environment on assignments related to Building Systems Detailing and Design.
  • Assisting in the preparation and delivery of course materials.
  • Managing digital teaching resources and supervising teaching assistants.
  • Facilitating the preparation and administration of assignments, tests, and final examinations.
  • Marking student submissions and addressing student inquiries.
  • Performing additional duties as required.
