Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Rotating Equipment Engineer to offer expert support and technical advice for our Hydrogen and CO plants. This role involves close collaboration with Reliability Engineers, Maintenance Mechanical Specialists, and plant teams to address rotating equipment challenges, repairs, and enhancements. The position is integral to our operational success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engineering expertise for rotating equipment, including but not limited to: Compressors (Reciprocating, Centrifugal, Screw), Centrifugal Pumps, Turbines, Gearboxes, Condition Monitoring Systems, and Ancillary Systems (Lube Oil, Seal Systems, etc.).
- Collaborate with Reliability Engineers and Maintenance Mechanical Specialists to diagnose rotating equipment problems, formulate repair and upgrade strategies, and pinpoint root causes to prevent recurring failures.
- Oversee the Predictive Maintenance (PdM) program for rotating equipment, ensuring robust vibration monitoring protocols and providing advanced spectrum analysis support.
- Stay informed on relevant industry standards and innovative technologies to ensure our facilities meet compliance requirements. Revise internal standards and policies as necessary.
- Assist facilities in bridging gaps in Process Safety Information (PSI) and management systems, which may involve engineering calculations or liaising with technical resources for essential documentation.
- Support equipment upgrades by managing small-scale capital projects and offering technical guidance to Project Managers.
- Provide assistance to the maintenance team during inspections and overhauls of rotating equipment.
- Offer both on-site and remote technical support for mechanical systems at our facilities.
- Identify and address chronic failure modes and problematic equipment, developing effective strategies for resolution.
- Support turnaround operations and capital projects as necessary, including planning and cost estimation.
- Lead or contribute to Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts for equipment failures.
- Conduct Management of Change (MOC) reviews for modifications to rotating equipment.
Qualifications:
This role requires a mix of office and field work, with an expectation of approximately 25% domestic travel.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, with over 5 years of experience as a rotating equipment technical resource in a Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated environment.
- Category II certification in Vibration Analysis.
- Level I certification in Machine Lubricant Analysis.
- Outstanding collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be a proactive self-starter capable of working independently and leading cross-functional teams.
- Able to prioritize multiple tasks, drive issues to resolution, and achieve results.
- Familiarity with various types of rotating equipment.
- Experience in OSHA PSM-regulated facilities or processes, with an understanding of mechanical integrity program elements related to rotating equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices applicable to a range of rotating and reciprocating mechanical systems.
