Position: Senior – Intermediate Civil Engineer

Opportunity Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to take on a permanent full-time role within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage Civil Engineering projects, including the creation and preparation of engineering designs, studies, and reports related to land development and municipal infrastructure.
  • Coordinate the preparation of necessary documents for approvals, including development and construction cost estimates, tender documents, and contracts, while ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of proposals by engaging with team members and selecting appropriate proposal writers.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members on non-technical matters.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and productivity within the team.
  • Manage client relationships and oversee projects to meet client expectations and performance goals.
  • Develop new business opportunities and foster strategic relationships with key clients, agencies, and partners.
  • Administer construction contracts for high-value projects.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
  • Complete safety documentation for projects and ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate team members, contributing expertise to design and construction administration activities.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly reporting, as well as design and team meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Travel within the region may be required.

Qualifications:

  • BSc degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution with a minimum of 12 years of relevant Canadian experience.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
  • Proficient in designing municipal civil infrastructure, including sites, roads, water, wastewater, stormwater, and grading.
  • Demonstrated success in leading project teams of engineers and technologists.
  • Strong technical writing skills for reports and proposals.
  • Excellent project management skills; PMP certification is preferred.
  • Strong contract administration skills; MMCD CCA certification is preferred.
  • Able to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, manage deadlines, and maintain exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to achieving success for the firm, clients, and the team.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills, along with exceptional time management abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with software for roads, water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
  • Experience in preparing stormwater management plans, master drainage plans, and watershed plans.
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, piping systems, and pumping systems.
  • Understanding of environmental permitting, legislation, and regulations.
  • Familiarity with relevant professional practice guidelines.
