Job Summary:

The Kativik Regional Government is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Specialist to join our team in Kuujjuaq, Quebec. As an Environmental Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the Environmental Team and collaborating with other departments to achieve our environmental goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance and expertise in environmental issues to the Kativik Regional Government and Northern Villages;
  • Implement the Residual Material Management Plan in collaboration with the Northern Villages and other partners;
  • Develop and implement new waste management methods and practices, including public awareness and education activities;
  • Conduct environmental inspections in the Northern Villages and region;
  • Collaborate with the Ministry of Environment on environmental matters;
  • Assist the Kativik Regional Government and Northern Villages in applying for certificates of authorization under the Environmental Quality Act;
  • Support environmental technicians in their duties;
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in environmental studies or a related field;
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in waste management;
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with limited supervision;
  • Strong team work and relationship management competencies;
  • Good understanding of Aboriginal issues and the North;
  • Ability to communicate in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, English, French;
  • Working knowledge of computer software applications;
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout Nunavik.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary range: $58,466 - $100,085 per year;
  • Cost of living differential: minimum of $8,500 per year;
  • Food allowance: minimum of $3,707 per year;
  • Annual leave trips: maximum of 3 per person annually;
  • Simplified Pension Plan: 6% employer, 4% employee;
  • Group Insurance;
  • Vacation: 20 days per year;
  • Statutory Holidays: 19 days including 10 during Christmas holidays.
