The Role
Reporting to the Team Leader of the ILI Review team within the Pipeline Integrity Corrosion and SCC Threat Management Department, this position involves supporting a range of pipeline integrity initiatives and projects associated with the company's existing natural gas pipeline networks across North America.
The Pipeline Integrity Engineer/Technologist plays a crucial role in planning pipeline integrity programs, investigating pipeline failures, developing excavation strategies, and creating engineering standards and procedures pertinent to pipeline integrity endeavors.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and assess pipeline defects using various assessment data to recommend remedial actions.
- Conduct advanced quantitative risk assessments, including likelihood of failure and consequence modeling.
- Execute Engineering Assessments to ensure the safe operation of pipelines.
- Develop and oversee excavation initiatives.
- Provide technical assistance to internal stakeholders as necessary.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and offer audit support as needed.
- Aid in the internal response to pipeline incidents and root cause analyses.
- Support project planning, development, and budgeting efforts.
- Undertake additional tasks as required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience.
- Bachelor's degree in a related Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- Candidates without an Engineering degree but possessing substantial relevant experience may be considered for the Technologist pathway.
- For Canadian Engineer Candidates: Must be registered or eligible for registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing.
- Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as projects typically involve collaboration with a diverse team from various departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with in-line inspection tools and pipeline condition assessments is advantageous.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations is beneficial.
- Possession of a P.E. License.
- Previous experience in the design, operation, and construction of high-pressure natural gas or liquid transmission pipelines is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment medical evaluation, including drug and alcohol testing.
- Willingness to travel for temporary assignments, meetings, or training, which may involve overnight stays.
Driving a vehicle is a fundamental function of this role. Following a conditional job offer, the company will review the driving records of any applicant for whom driving is essential.
