Lead Solid Waste Project Engineer

Who are we seeking?
Our Solid Waste division is in search of a seasoned Civil/Environmental Engineer to take on a pivotal role. In this capacity, you will spearhead solid waste initiatives, including the design and management of landfills, composting sites, recycling centers, anaerobic digestion plants, and biogas systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Mentor project managers to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery of solid waste projects, including permitting, operational support, detailed design, construction oversight, environmental assessments, and greenhouse gas evaluations.
- Lead the engineering design of landfills, transfer stations, composting facilities, and anaerobic digestion systems.
- Conduct senior reviews of technical documents and designs produced by team members within the Waste Management division.
- Coordinate with technical experts, including drafters, 3D designers, GIS specialists, chemists, geotechnical engineers, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, biologists, and planners to finalize solid waste facility designs.
- Communicate effectively with both current and potential clients.
- Develop and manage construction contract documentation, conduct site inspections, and lead construction progress meetings.
- Perform regulatory compliance assessments.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to create studies and designs for permitting applications.
- Engage with regulatory bodies as necessary.
- Assist in proposal development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Engineering.
- Over 10 years of relevant experience in the Civil/Environmental engineering sector.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil3D, Surfer, PCSWMM, HELP, and Land GEM.
- Understanding of the waste management regulatory framework in Western Canada, including landfill and composting standards, hazardous waste regulations, and water sustainability legislation.
- Knowledge of recycling, composting, and organic waste management technologies and regulations is advantageous.
- Experience in developing design, operational, and closure plans is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork as required.
