Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Waste Management Engineer to lead our solid waste projects, including landfills, compost facilities, recycling facilities, anaerobic digestion facilities, and biogas utilization. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for mentoring project managers, leading design efforts, and coordinating technical resources to deliver projects on time and on budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor project managers to deliver solid waste projects, including permitting, operations support, detailed design, construction management, and inspection.
  • Lead the design of landfills, transfer stations, composting facilities, and anaerobic digestion facilities.
  • Prepare and complete senior review of technical reports and designs completed by others in the Waste Management Group.
  • Coordinate technical resources and personnel to complete solid waste facility designs and plans.
  • Effectively communicate with existing and prospective clients.
  • Develop and administer construction contract documents and conduct construction inspections and chair construction progress meetings.
  • Complete regulatory compliance reviews.
  • Develop studies and designs to support permitting applications in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Participate in liaison with regulators.
  • Contribute to proposal preparation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Engineering.
  • 10+ years of relevant Engineering experience in the Civil/Environmental field.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, surfer, PCSWMM, HELP, Scholl Canyon, Land GEM.
  • Knowledge of the Western Canada waste management regulatory regime, including The Standards for Landfills and Composting in Alberta, Hazardous Waste Regulations, Contaminated Sites Regulation, and Water Sustainability Act.
  • Knowledge of material recycling, composting, and organics management technologies and regulations will be an asset.
  • Experience developing design, operations, and closure plans will be considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both within a team and independently.
  • Willingness and ability for overnight travel and to conduct field work, as required.
