In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our procurement processes for all non-capital and non-construction projects. You will act as a subject matter expert, providing valuable insights and recommendations to senior leadership to support informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic procurement plans aligned with institutional objectives and budgetary constraints.
  • Sourcing and Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and select vendors for goods and services. Prepare bid documents, obtain competitive proposals, and cultivate relationships with vendors to ensure competitive pricing, quality products, and timely delivery.
  • Contract Negotiation and Execution: Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing on behalf of senior leadership, ensuring legally binding agreements that minimize risks and maximize value for the institution.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulations. Assess and mitigate procurement-related risks, developing and implementing contractual requirements to safeguard the university.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including facilities management, finance, and project management teams, to support procurement needs and activities aligned with project timelines and milestones.
  • Budget Management: Monitor and manage procurement budgets, tracking expenditures, forecasting costs, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance procurement processes, systems, and workflows to optimize efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate reports, metrics, and analyses related to procurement activities. Provide insights and recommendations to leadership based on data-driven assessments.
  • Training and Development: Provide guidance, training, and support to procurement staff and stakeholders on procurement policies, procedures, and best practices. Maintain a current understanding of relevant legal developments and contractual environments.
