Position Title: Infant and Toddler Early Childhood Educator (ECE IT, Early Years)

Location: YMCA of Greater Vancouver

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time: 35 hours/week

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, with shifts rotating between 7:00am – 6:00pm

Compensation: $24.19 per hour for ECE IT/SN License, plus $6 per hour from the Provincial Government's Wage Enhancement Initiative, along with Benefits

Role Overview:

We are looking for a compassionate and innovative Early Childhood Educator to ensure a safe and stimulating environment for all children at the YMCA. Utilizing the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum, the educator will design and facilitate activities tailored to the interests and developmental stages of the children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality care and engaging programming for children
  • Foster meaningful and positive relationships with children and their families
  • Collaborate with your team to create a nurturing and secure environment for staff and families
  • Implement age-appropriate programs aligned with the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum
  • Provide active supervision at all times and assist in transitions between play areas
  • Utilize our parent communication app (Weemarkable) for daily updates and communication
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment across all program areas and common spaces
  • Adhere to all YMCA, Child Care Facility Licensing (CCFL), and legal standards, including YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum requirements

Qualifications:

  • Infant Toddler ECE certification from a recognized program in British Columbia is mandatory
  • Special Needs (SNE) Certification is advantageous
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Any training related to child development is beneficial
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR-C & AED certification required (can be obtained within 30 days of employment)
  • Three professional references are required
  • Successful candidates must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six months prior to the start date
