About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Biological Research Scientist to join our team at The Hospital for Sick Children. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for conducting experiments in plant or animal growth, heredity and breeding, as well as conducting molecular or biochemical studies and experiments in genetic expression, gene manipulation and recombinant DNA technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise laboratory technical personnel, medical clinical personnel, graduate students, research scientists and other professionals
  • Conduct research into the structure, function, ecology, biotechnology and genetics of micro-organisms, including bacteria, fungi, protozoans, and algae
  • Prepare research papers, educational texts or articles
  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Develop and implement new or alternative methods of producing products
Requirements
  • Doctorate degree in Biological Sciences or related field
  • 5 years or more of experience in research and development
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong team player with excellent time management skills
