Design and Construction Engineer

Job Summary:
The City of St. Catharines is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineer to join our team as a Design and Construction Engineer. This is a key role that will be responsible for the planning, design, and construction of municipal infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, and water systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management: Manage and coordinate the planning, design, and construction of municipal infrastructure projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Design and Engineering: Prepare and review designs, plans, and specifications for municipal infrastructure projects, ensuring that they meet the required standards and regulations.
Construction Supervision: Supervise and coordinate the construction of municipal infrastructure projects, ensuring that they are completed to the required quality standards and within the specified timeframe.
Quality Control: Conduct quality control inspections and tests to ensure that municipal infrastructure projects meet the required standards and regulations.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including other departments and teams, to ensure that municipal infrastructure projects are completed successfully. Communicate effectively with contractors, consultants, and other external stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed to the required standards and within the specified timeframe.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that municipal infrastructure projects comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards, including those related to environmental and health and safety.
Asset Management: Develop and implement asset management strategies to ensure that municipal infrastructure assets are maintained and upgraded to meet the required standards and regulations.
Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities to staff to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to complete municipal infrastructure projects successfully.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on municipal infrastructure projects.
Skills: Strong technical skills, including knowledge of design and construction principles, materials, and methods. Excellent communication and project management skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Certifications: Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or equivalent.
Other: Valid Class G driver's license and a demonstrated commitment to enhancing a safety culture.
What We Offer:
The City of St. Catharines offers a competitive salary range of $108,945 to $127,436 annually, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional development and growth.
