Pediatric Oncology Nurse

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Oncology team at BC Children's Hospital. As a Pediatric Oncology Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care to children and their families, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct patient care, implementing care plans and collaborating with healthcare teams to evaluate family-centered patient care.
- Plan direct care for patients, reviewing patient/family history, developing care plans, and meeting with healthcare teams to discuss and review care plans.
- Maintain patient records, collecting and documenting information, including healthcare information, nursing observations, telephone communications, interventions, teaching, and care evaluations.
- Teach patients, family members, or caregivers, providing and explaining information, demonstrating procedures, and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching methods.
- Participate in the orientation and continuing education of nursing staff and students, preceptoring and mentoring.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One year recent related experience in the designated clinical area and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to relate effectively to children and their families and others.
- Ability to function as an active member of a multidisciplinary care team.
- Ability to demonstrate effective CPR techniques.
- Ability to operate related equipment, including applicable computer software.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
