Production Operations Leader

As a key member of the Mill Management Team, the Operations Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing daily operations to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, sales targets, production efficiency, cost management, quality assurance, environmental regulations, and human resources objectives while adhering to Corporate Principles and Guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- General Management
- Lead significant projects or initiatives by establishing clear objectives and engaging appropriate resources to achieve desired outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations as well as Corporate Policies and procedures.
- Support the formulation and execution of strategic and operational plans for the mill; develop and maintain a daily operating plan that meets production, quality, and cost goals.
- Manage cash costs to align with the operating budget and implement a cost reduction strategy to optimize cash flow during market fluctuations.
- Monitor cash contributions from customers and products, taking necessary actions to meet corporate financial objectives in collaboration with the Sales and Marketing Team.
- Oversee asset maintenance to extend their lifespan and uphold cleanliness standards, while ensuring that production and maintenance systems are continuously improved.
- Enhance human resources effectiveness by fostering strong union/management/employee relations through a collaborative management approach.
- Advise on changes or opportunities beyond direct accountability that can enhance the short and long-term goals of the pulp group.
- Performance Management
- Assist managers and employees throughout the annual performance management cycle, ensuring consistent application across teams and maintaining up-to-date employee records.
- Provide a reliable process to help managers address employee performance and attendance challenges.
- Processes and Policies
- As a member of the Mill Management Team, ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and safety systems including QMS (ISO 9001), EMS (ISO), and OHSAS.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in engineering coupled with twelve to fifteen years of industry experience, providing a comprehensive understanding of pulp processing, environmental, and quality standards.
- Proven management and leadership capabilities, with the ability to effectively navigate government relations and motivate teams to achieve set objectives.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a knack for problem-solving and decision-making.
- A strategic thinker capable of managing complexity while balancing overarching goals with detailed execution.
- Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities, with a focus on recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent.
- Proficient in organizing, planning, delegating authority, leading, and motivating teams while maintaining effective oversight.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at conveying information to diverse audiences and presenting financial data appropriately.
- Demonstrated integrity and high ethical standards in all actions.
- Possesses situational awareness and adaptability to changing environments, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
- A strong sense of urgency in advancing projects and driving operational enhancements; action-oriented and goal-focused.
