We are seeking a Supply Chain Materials Supervisor to enhance our operational excellence.
This role is pivotal in guaranteeing a steady supply of both internally manufactured and externally sourced components to support the Master Production Schedule and established lead times. This must be achieved while adhering to the defined limits for raw and work-in-progress inventory. Effective management of the Supply Chain function will be realized through the proficient use of existing and forthcoming systems, including SAP, alongside the efficient deployment of purchasing, planning, and scheduling personnel. A primary focus for the new hire will be the successful rollout of the enterprise-wide SAP system. Compensation for this position is projected to be between $130,000 and $140,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Health and welfare benefits commence on the first of the month following the hire date.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize current systems and manual processes to guide the team in generating purchase orders and shop orders in alignment with the master schedule.
- Identify and implement strategies aimed at minimizing component shortages while also reducing raw and work-in-progress inventory levels.
- Monitor capacity and workload on internal work centers to achieve and sustain acceptable lead times, striving for continuous lead-time improvement.
- Develop and maintain capacity planning tools (PSI) to ensure adequate internal capacity and identify constraints.
- Oversee shipping and receiving operations.
- Collaborate with purchasing teams to cultivate vendor relationships, reduce costs, shorten lead times, enhance quality, and improve on-time performance.
- Engage in setting inventory objectives; consistently track, control, and adjust ordering practices to meet or exceed target inventory turnover rates.
- Manage material logistics functions associated with the component supply chain.
- Initiate and oversee an excess and obsolete inventory program; identify, categorize, and dispose of materials appropriately.
- Lead and direct a team of buyers, planners, and schedulers for the business unit, including workload management, performance oversight, coaching, and mentoring.
- Effectively guide the team through the SAP implementation, ensuring operational continuity through ongoing capacity planning.
- Work collaboratively with the Operations team and solicit feedback on process enhancements to support the overall success of the facility.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 7 to 10 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively across functions.
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
