Position Overview

The (Senior) Account Manager - CMHC, Commercial Services is responsible for providing exceptional service to both existing and prospective Business Members, while establishing FirstOntario Business as the preferred lender within the community. This role is integral in supporting FirstOntario Credit Union's strategic objectives by meeting sales targets related to loans, mortgages, deposits, and fees, with a focus on driving business primarily in CMHC Multi-unit Residential assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to members, offering credible guidance through dedicated support and service that enhances volumes of commercial CMHC insured business.
  • Oversee the underwriting, management, and administration of commercial loans within your portfolio.
  • Manage CMHC insured multi-residential mortgage origination, both directly and through third-party partners.
  • Collaborate closely with the Treasury Department to cultivate and maintain third-party relationships.
  • Handle all aspects of credit underwriting for CMHC transactions and review CMHC transactions underwritten by third-party partners.
  • Supervise the sourcing, credit write-up, adjudication, and review of Commercial credit files, focusing on CMHC insured transactions while ensuring risk mitigation strategies, including audits, are in place.
  • Proactively manage credit portfolio reviews to ensure timely completion ahead of annual expiry dates, which may involve tracking, pursuing, and analyzing annual reporting requirements from each Member.
  • Identify opportunities within sales targets promptly and implement actionable plans.
  • Execute a disciplined sales/service strategy, effectively utilizing campaigns developed by business partners to achieve annual financial objectives.
  • Act as the primary contact for third-party CMHC origination partner firms in collaboration with Treasury.
  • Actively seek new CMHC origination business.
  • Build a network within the CMHC Multi-Unit Residential Mortgage sector.
  • Develop expertise in the CMHC Multi-Unit Residential Mortgage sector for FirstOntario.
  • Work closely with the Treasury Department on securitization opportunities for CMHC insured Multi-Unit Residential Mortgages.
  • Engage actively in the local business community by joining various local business associations and representing FirstOntario at special business events.
  • Prioritize health & safety to ensure the well-being of yourself and others.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Possess a post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration, Commerce, and/or Economics, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen with four to six (4-6) years of experience in Business/Commercial banking or related Member-facing and/or Credit adjudication roles.
  • Have five or more (5+) years of experience in Commercial Real Estate underwriting; Development and Construction underwriting is considered an asset.
  • CMHC underwriting experience is advantageous.
  • Stay informed about all credit and investment products and services, remaining current on processes.
  • Exhibit sales management skills in setting and monitoring sales targets, plans, pipelines, and activities.
  • Be aware of and mitigate enterprise risk factors, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, legislation, and FirstOntario policies and procedures.
  • Be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required, and travel to meet member needs.
