Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Low Vision Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our rehabilitation team, you will play a vital role in providing expert care and support to individuals with visual impairments.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive functional low vision assessments to identify individual needs and develop personalized rehabilitation plans.
- Teach individuals with visual impairments how to maximize their residual vision and adapt to their condition.
- Recommend and train individuals in the use of optical and non-optical aids, including assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
- Provide education and support to individuals and their families on eye health, vision loss, and related topics.
- Liaise with community-based rehabilitation teams, agencies, schools, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care and support.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of rehabilitation plans.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research, technologies, and best practices in low vision rehabilitation.
- Master's degree in a relevant field, such as health care or vision science.
- ACVREP certification or equivalent in low vision therapy.
- Experience working with individuals with visual impairments and their families.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- French language skills are an asset.
This is a full-time position that requires flexibility and willingness to work in various settings, including office centers, individual homes, and the community. Travel may be required.
