Job Summary:

The Production Team Lead will oversee the department, employees, and systems, actively participating in a high-performance cross-functional team environment. This role is responsible for maintaining product quality, scheduling and assigning employees, establishing priorities, revising schedules, and resolving problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain quality of product and ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
  • Schedule and assign employees, establish priorities, and revise schedules as needed
  • Oversee production employees and achieve production objectives
  • Verify and implement manufacturing procedures, and maintain a safe working environment
  • Take initiative and exercise timely and good judgment in day-to-day business decisions
  • Maintain a safe working environment by educating and directing employees on the use of equipment and resources, while maintaining compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) recommendations, or Ministry of Labour (MOL) work orders, Company safety rules, GMPs, and HACCP, including documentation
  • Support food safety issues relating to processing, act as a role model in following food safety protocols
  • Reduce and eliminate workplace accidents
  • Develop, direct, manage, train, and motivate employees by communicating job expectations, appraising job results, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees in a timely manner
  • Maintain a positive employee relations environment by communicating effectively with peers, employees, and managers
  • Understand and administer the Collective Agreement and other company policies and procedures
  • Recognize, support, and commit to the Food Safety promise and facility Mission statement, ensuring product production is wholesome and offering suggestions to improve food safety on the production floor
