About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Collections and Instruction Librarian to join our team at Nipissing University. As a key member of our library staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the research, teaching, and learning needs of our students, staff, and faculty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement information literacy instruction programs for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Collaborate with the Library Instruction Team to plan and deliver instruction sessions, research appointments, and other library services.
  • Provide reference service and support to students, faculty, and staff, including answering research questions and providing guidance on library resources and services.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of library collections, including selection, acquisition, and cataloging of materials.
  • Participate in library committees and working groups to promote library services and resources, and to contribute to the development of library policies and procedures.
  • Engage in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in library and information services.
Requirements
  • Master of Library and Information Studies degree from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Minimum of one year of directly related experience in an academic library.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to implement solutions and make recommendations.
  • Foundational knowledge of library principles and practices, including intellectual freedom, ethics, privacy, and confidentiality.
