About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Software Developer to lead the design and development of our Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) Observability Platform. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for architecting and managing technologies in our stack, including ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, Prometheus, Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, Timestream, Lambda, and Kubernetes running on public clouds such as AWS and built using IAC tools such as Terraform.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and develop DTC's Observability Platform, including Metrics, Logging, Tracing, Metering, Operational Data Catalog and more.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define or solve department-wide problems.
  3. Map strategic business goals to a long-term technology architecture.
  4. Transform business requirements into general solutions that are usable by other parts of the business.
  5. Define and model the implementation of good software engineering and participate in peer feedback processes.
  6. Provide feedback to hiring managers on candidates and advocate for an inclusive and supportive engineering culture across all teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent software development background.
  • 12+ years relevant software development experience.
  • 5+ years of experience and a high level of technical leadership in large-scale Observability solutions encompassing metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
  • Expertise in commercial and open-source technologies in the log management, distributed tracing, and analytics domains.
  • Proficiency in software and infrastructure development principles, design patterns, and data structures.
  • Proficiency with strong object-oriented design and programming skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing scalable web services built upon distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals and a proven track record of implementing reliable software in an 'always-on' environment.
  • Ability to drive best practices and establish standards for your team.
  • Experience collaborating in hybrid remote/in-office teams across multiple regions and time zones.
