About This RoleThis new care clinic is designed to assist patients lacking a primary care provider, addressing needs that cannot be managed through virtual care services. The clinic will be staffed by a multidisciplinary team including family physicians, nurse practitioners, family practice nurses, and social workers. This collaborative team will work closely with the new primary care clinic.
The clinic is situated in a newly established space that promotes teamwork and effective patient care. There will be ample opportunities for collaboration within the care team and across various health systems to meet the diverse health needs of the patients served.
Compensation for this role is based on a sessional hourly rate, with no overhead costs associated with the position.
We are looking to fill two positions within this clinic.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting patient examinations, gathering health histories, and ordering diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures.
- Providing consultations and referrals to other healthcare professionals.
- Acting as an advocate for patients.
- Prescribing and administering medications, treatments, and vaccinations.
- Reporting births, deaths, and communicable diseases in accordance with public health regulations.
- Collaborating as a member of a family practice team.
- Engaging in continuous quality improvement initiatives as part of the team.
Flexible full-time or part-time hours are available.
QualificationsApplicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS) and certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) is also required.
