Vehicle Maintenance Attendant

The Vehicle Maintenance Attendant is responsible for the upkeep and fueling of all school buses, activity buses, and commercial vehicles in collaboration with First Student's

Maintenance Department:

This role involves dispensing fuel, monitoring oil levels, maintaining precise stick and meter readings, stocking necessary supplies and equipment, and managing the flow of buses to ensure safe operations.

Additionally, light maintenance tasks for buildings and grounds may be required.
As a Vehicle Maintenance Attendant, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Opening the gates to the lot and inspecting bus parking areas to ensure timely dispatch of all vehicles. Re-positioning any buses that may obstruct traffic in the yard.
  • Keeping accurate records and completing necessary reports such as the Bulk Fuel Receiving Report, Fuel Variance Report, Closing Month-end Report, and Meter Calibration Report.
  • Informing the Location Manager or designated personnel when fuel deliveries are needed and ensuring accurate stick readings are recorded before and after delivery.
  • Checking and replenishing oil, antifreeze, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and belts on buses being fueled.
  • Conducting light interior and exterior maintenance on buses as required.
  • Executing any other requests or directives from management as needed.

Vehicle Maintenance Attendant Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Familiarity with bus maintenance
  • Willingness to learn maintenance skills.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical examination. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
