Lot Attendant Role
The Lot Attendant is responsible for the upkeep and fueling of all school buses, activity buses, and commercial vehicles in collaboration with First Student's
Maintenance Division:
This role involves dispensing fuel, monitoring oil levels, maintaining precise stick and meter readings, stocking necessary supplies and equipment, and managing the flow of buses to ensure safe operations.
Additionally, the Lot Attendant performs light maintenance tasks as needed for facilities and grounds.Key responsibilities include:
- Opening the gates to the lot and inspecting bus parking areas to ensure timely dispatch of all vehicles. Adjusting the position of any buses that may obstruct traffic within the yard.
- Keeping accurate records and completing necessary reports such as the Bulk Fuel Receiving Report, Fuel Variance Report, Month-end Closing Report, and Meter Calibration Report.
- Informing the Location Manager or designated personnel when fuel deliveries are necessary and ensuring accurate stick readings are recorded before and after delivery.
- Checking and replenishing oil, antifreeze, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and belts on buses being fueled.
- Conducting light interior and exterior maintenance on buses as required.
- Executing any additional requests or directives from management as needed.

Lot Attendant Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Familiarity with bus maintenance practices
- Willingness to acquire maintenance skills.
- Subject to DOT drug testing and physical examination. Compliance with DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
