Position Overview
Mountain Transport Institute Ltd is seeking a dedicated Financial Controller to oversee our financial management and contribute to the strategic direction of our diverse group of companies. This role is crucial for ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of our organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing financial strategies that align with the overall business objectives.
- Analyzing and reporting on monthly and quarterly financial performance, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintaining the integrity of the accounting system, including managing cash flow forecasts and general ledger activities.
- Overseeing payroll, accounts payable, and receivable, along with job costing and invoicing processes.
- Conducting bank reconciliations and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Preparing detailed financial analyses to support job bidding, contract negotiations, and risk assessments.
- Coordinating financing activities and managing debt service obligations.
- Preparing year-end financial statements and collaborating with external accountants for tax preparation.
- Communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders to foster a collaborative environment.
- Advising on internal controls and ensuring proper financial governance.
- Assisting in budget preparation and financial planning across the three businesses.
- Supervising junior accounting personnel and providing mentorship.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess a CPA designation and have a solid understanding of GAAP. A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting is essential.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage and QuickBooks.
- Experience with financial reporting systems and budgeting processes.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial financial regulations.
- Strong IT skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Compensation and Benefits:
This position offers a competitive salary ranging from $75,000 to $95,000, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
