We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Outreach Counsellor to join our Native Healing Centre team. As a key member of our Health Services department, you will provide 1:1 counselling services and workshops to clients within our supportive housing developments and Native Healing Centre.

Your role will involve delivering client-centered counselling to individuals who require mental health support but face accessibility challenges. You will be expected to adopt a harm reduction approach, provide culturally responsive support, and utilize trauma-informed practices to promote holistic mental well-being.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 counselling services and workshops to clients in supportive housing developments and the Native Healing Centre.
  • Deliver client-centered counselling to individuals with mental health needs, incorporating harm reduction and trauma-informed practices.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement culturally responsive support programs.
  • Conduct workshops and group sessions to promote mental well-being and community engagement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to enhance service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work or a related field (Master's degree considered an asset).
  • Certification in First Aid, Class 4 Driver's License, Suicide Intervention, and Conflict Resolution.
  • Ability to undergo a successful criminal record search.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
