About the Role

This position plays a crucial role in driving demand for agricultural innovation services and ensuring customer satisfaction and positive user experiences for a predetermined territory. The goal is to help Simplot become a leader in equipment and digital technology that applies to production agriculture, making it an attractive partner for farm customers who value technology as part of their farm management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with sales representatives to deliver appropriate agricultural innovation solutions to farm customers in the territory.
  • Collaborate with the agricultural innovation manager and senior lead to develop, improve, and refine existing services as well as research and evaluate opportunities for new service offerings in the territory.
  • Support the promotion and training of services to farmers and sales representatives.
  • Continuously increase knowledge of agricultural innovation and industry technology.
  • Work with sales representatives to integrate agricultural innovation services into their annual customer plans.
  • Participate in sales representatives' planning meetings about key customers.
  • Contribute to the sales process by ensuring sellers have the necessary information to gather during the customer discovery process to assist in the agricultural innovation plans.
  • Develop a 3-6 month action plan with support from the agricultural innovation manager.
Field Support Services
  • Execute consultations, data entry, and administration for field moisture services with customers in the territory.
  • Conduct installations, technical support, maintenance, and removals of equipment for field moisture services for customers in the territory.
Service Support
  • Administer and prepare SprayConnect projects for customers in the territory.
  • Work with sales representatives to conduct ground truthing, prescription loading, technical support for customers in the territory.
Soil Support Services
  • Conduct or assist with all soil sampling procedures as required.
  • Conduct ground truthing, SWAT mapping, and data preparation.
  • Work with sales representatives to consult and plan on SoilConnect projects for customers in the territory.
  • Work with sales representatives to execute prescription loading, technical support, data processing, and entry for customers in the territory.
  • Work with sales representatives to execute in-season agronomic evaluations (Learning Blocks) and field monitoring for customers in the territory.

  • Maintain and tidy up the office and yard.
  • Demonstrate respect and courtesy for all staff, customers, suppliers, and community.
Additional Expectations
  • Establish agricultural innovation services as a differentiator for Simplot over other crop input retailers as well as private agrologists and equipment companies.
  • Continually work with the agricultural innovation manager to update corporate competency in the technology areas that Simplot needs to grow in.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with the agricultural innovation senior lead and sales representatives.
  • Align with the agricultural innovation manager on the new evolving culture.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in agriculture.
  • Experience in agronomy or ag retail is an asset but not required.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Knowledge of application equipment, willing to network with experts in the industry for support (John Deere, Case IH, etc.).
  • Knowledge of West Central Saskatchewan production practices.
Physical Demands
  • Manual dexterity required to use a desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Agri-industry hours - overtime, as required.
Work Environment
  • Indoor and outdoor setting.
  • Interacts with upper and middle management, employees, and customers.
  • Repetitive work.
