Key Responsibilities
  • Efficiently load and unload freight.
  • Operate and navigate straight or articulated trucks for the transport of materials.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of the vehicle, including tires, lights, brakes, and cold storage equipment.
  • Perform emergency repairs on the roadside when necessary.
  • Carry out pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, overseeing all vehicle operations.
  • Communicate effectively with central dispatch regarding transport updates.
  • Maintain accurate records of cargo details, service hours, distance traveled, and fuel usage.
  • Ensure the safety and security of cargo through proper tarping methods.
Required Certifications
  • Air Brake (Z) Endorsement is mandatory.
  • Valid Driver's License (Class 1 or A) is essential.
Documentation Skills
  • Familiarity with accident or incident reporting.
  • Proficient in maintaining a driver logbook.
  • Ability to complete inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip).
  • Knowledge of maintenance and repair documentation.
  • Experience in compiling trip reports.
Physical and Work Conditions
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • Ability to handle heavy loads is required.
  • Willingness to manage a large workload and work overtime when necessary.
  • This role is physically demanding and involves repetitive tasks.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting are expected.
