Job Title: Data Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to join our Enterprise Architecture team at BDO Canada LLP. As a Data Architect, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing end-to-end data platforms, including data architecture, data integration, data modeling, data governance, business intelligence, and more.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the design and implementation of data platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance with global data protection regulations.
  • Provide technical oversight and recommendations on current data platforms, extending across cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to obtain knowledge of objectives, challenges, and requirements regarding the data platform.
  • Actively participate in the Data Governance committee and present proposed solutions to the Technical Review Committee.
  • Work with Enterprise Architecture, Data Engineering, Development, and Project Management teams to support the delivery of data-driven initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct research and evaluation of emerging technologies, industry trends, and recommend technologies that increase cost-effectiveness and technology flexibility.
Your Experience and Education:
  • Post-secondary degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in designing and implementing modern data architectures at an enterprise scale.
  • Experience supporting data architectures and data management concepts, such as data mesh, data lake, data lakehouse, data warehouse, and more.
  • Experience working with ETL/ELT tools, data science programming languages, and data manipulation and visualization tools.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling principles, data governance framework principles, data security, and compliance with global data protection regulations.
  • Familiarity with standard DevOps processes for supporting data platforms.
