Overview

This position is for an Inventory Control Analyst responsible for overseeing physical inventory assessments for a vast network of retail locations across Canada. The analyst will be instrumental in maintaining the precision and integrity of the organization's inventory documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and organize the schedule for physical inventory assessments across numerous retail outlets.
  • Generate critical reports on inventory performance indicators and carry out reconciliations for inventory outcomes.
  • Engage in the financial year-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis of ledger accounts.
  • Prepare month-end entries related to stock provisions and necessary adjustments.
  • Examine and reconcile month-end ledger accounts within established timelines.
  • Assist in the development of monthly and quarterly inventory reports and presentations.
  • Ensure that monthly inventory controls are executed efficiently and punctually.
  • Respond promptly and clearly to inquiries from store supervisors regarding physical inventory counts.
  • Investigate and analyze root causes, gather essential data from various sources, and suggest solutions for complex inventory adjustments in collaboration with multiple departments.
  • Implement various inventory adjustments such as store transfers, write-offs, and physical account modifications.
  • Compile essential reports and analyze losses by store, merchandise category, and product type.
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing inventory processes and controls through automation and identifying opportunities to minimize losses or costs.
  • Retrieve daily reports from the data server.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus on Finance or Accounting.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in the retail sector, particularly in technical roles related to inventory and financial cycles.
  • Proficient in Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, IF statements, and pivot tables.
  • Familiarity with SAP software is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other teams.
  • Demonstrated initiative, enthusiasm, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic environment with frequently shifting priorities and demands.
  • Fluency in both English and French, in written and verbal forms.
