About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Planning Associate to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Wealth Management team, you will play a critical role in providing financial planning support to our dedicated Wealth Advisors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively support the financial planning needs of our clients, including deep discovery, plan preparation, and implementation.
  • Collaborate with internal specialists to champion an integrated and organized approach to planning.
  • Contribute to ongoing professional development through participation in monthly Total Wealth Planning calls.
  • Provide general support to Wealth Advisors by sharing knowledge on financial planning trends and strategic recommendations.
  • Ensure accuracy and adherence to Financial Planning Defaults & Standards guided by FP Canada.
  • Maintain awareness of legislative and financial industry changes affecting Financial Planning techniques.
  • Understand and apply Scotiabank's risk appetite and risk culture in day-to-day activities.
  • Actively pursue efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank's Values and Code of Conduct.
Requirements
  • Deep understanding of comprehensive financial planning, including investments, asset protection, retirement, estate planning, and tax issues.
  • College or University degree.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Advanced understanding of financial planning software.
  • Experience in Total Wealth Planning engagement from client discovery to presentation delivery.
  • Experience in a client-facing role with opportunity to provide financial advice.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in English and French.
  • Strong attention to detail and results-focused mindset.
  • Canadian Securities Course and/or Life Insurance License is an asset.
