Job Summary

The Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team in the Hematology department. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will be responsible for performing Hematology tests and procedures in accordance with the laboratory's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Hematology tests and procedures, including Hematology morphology, bedside BM preparation, special stains, and cell markers utilizing flow cytometry technology.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, perform quality control and assurance procedures, and participate in the implementation of new methodology and evaluations.
  • Display courtesy and tact with peers, patients, the public, and other hospital staff.
  • Contribute to the education and development of students and co-workers.

Requirements

  • Current Registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
  • Successful completion of an accredited MLT program.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Hematology morphology.
  • Flow cytometry/special stain experience and knowledge of bedside marrow preparation technique.
  • Computer skills in Order Entry, Data Entry, and Reporting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions

This is a temporary position until July 2025. The successful candidate will be required to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
