Opportunity Overview
The Facility Operator role is integral to the daily safe and customer-focused operations of waste treatment, oil treatment, and water injection processes. The Operator will support standard operating procedures, conduct hazard assessments, and engage in safety programs and environmental protection initiatives. This position requires constant interaction with clients, necessitating excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to customer service.
Daily Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing and managing the daily operations of the facility
- Handling truck unloading, oil emulsion, and water & vacuum truck operations
- Executing oil treatment processes using treaters, coolers, or tank systems
- Participating in waste processing, managing waste and mud tank operations, and shaker & centrifuge activities
- Ensuring compliance with Measurement & Crude Oil Quality standards during the receipt, terminal storage, and transportation of crude oil
- Managing ongoing water injection, filter replacements, and pump maintenance tasks
- Conducting treatment of solids on the waste pad
- Performing boiler operations, testing, and steam system management
- Adhering to all corporate compliance programs
- Submitting truck ticket summaries, daily plant checklists, and balance and transfer reports
- Engaging in the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS)
- Operating the waste plant to ensure solids processing meets or exceeds landfill criteria
- Following water injection standard operating procedures and best practices to maintain disposal well integrity
- Conducting general maintenance to ensure a clean and safe plant environment
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma, or equivalent
- At least 3 years of operational experience in waste processing, oil treatment, or water injection
- Experience in midstream terminal operations is a significant advantage
- Specialized training in boilers, treaters, pumps, repairs, shaker/centrifuge, and loaders is beneficial
- Proven ability to apply strong methodologies in safety operations, oil treatment & blending, waste processing, and water disposal
- Current and valid safety certifications, including H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHIMS, and TDG
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills, with the ability to work long hours in a demanding environment
- Capability to document work, manage cross-shift communication, and ensure effective communication with various stakeholders
- Ability to multitask and demonstrate sound decision-making skills to troubleshoot issues
- Excellent customer service skills and adherence to safe work practices
- A valid and acceptable Driver's license and successful completion of pre-employment testing
